The Galileo Learning Community
Connections that go beyond the classroom
You will share a combination of five core classes: Human Anatomy (BIOL 108) or Principles of Biology (BIOL 130), Expository Writing (ENGL 101), and Freshman Focus (IDC. 100) in the fall semester and Freshman Seminar (IDC. 101) and a Galileo course in art, music, or theatre in the spring, all connected to the theme of Mind, Body, and Spirit. If you are a resident, you will live in Petrik Hall, the newly designated residence hall for first year learning communities, together with other students in the Galileo and Brown Leadership Learning Communities. If you are a commuter, you will remain engaged through classes, out-of-class trips and social activities and you will have access to Petrik Hall. The time spent together during these courses and activities allows you to create bonds and learning opportunities not available in the traditional classroom setting.
