State Licensing Exams

The University tracks the outcomes of some graduates through their performance on state licensing exams. The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness has compiled this list of state licensing exam outcomes for the following programs: Education, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Medical Laboratory Science, Respiratory Therapy and Accounting.

Education

The Annsley Frazier Thornton School of Education tracks the scores and pass rates of its students on the Praxis II standardized assessments. Students are required to pass all Praxis II exams that correspond to their specific areas of concentration in order to be recommended for certification in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The figure below shows the pass rates of Bellarmine students in traditional teacher preparation programs from 2009-2010 to 2014-2015 compared to the total pass rates for Kentucky.

The Praxis II pass rates of graduates from the four-year traditional teacher preparation programs at Bellarmine University are shown and compared with the statewide pass rates for Kentucky between 2009-2010 and 2013-2014.

Nursing

The first-time pass rates of graduates from Bellarmine's BSN program on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) are tracked by the Lansing School of Nursing and Clinical Sciences. Successful completion of the examination is required in order for graduates to become licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The University’s first-time pass rates are shown below for 2010 through 2016 and are compared with the average first-time pass rates within Kentucky and nationally.

Physical Therapy

The first-time and total pass rates of graduates from the University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program, as reported to the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, are tracked by the School of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences. Successful completion of the examination is required in order for graduates to become licensed. The University's first-time and total pass rates are shown below for 2012 through 2016.

Medical Lab Science

The first-time pass rates of graduates from the University's Medical Laboratory Science program on the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) exam are tracked by the Medical Laboratory Science program within the Lansing School of Nursing and Clinical Sciences. While successful completion of the MLS (ASCP) exam is not required to practice in most states, Bellarmine highly recommends its graduates sit for the exam. The University's first-time pass rates are shown below for 2010 through 2015, compared with the national average first-time pass rates.

Respiratory Therapy

The pass rates and programmatic outcomes of graduates from the University’s Respiratory Therapy program are tracked by the Respiratory Therapy program in the Lansing School of Nursing and Clinical Sciences. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented. The University’s outcomes are shown below for 2016 and are based on data from 1/1/13 - 12/31/15 supplied in July 2016.

Accounting

The overall CPA pass rates of graduates from the University’s accounting program, as published by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy are tracked by the Rubel School of Business. Successful completion of the examination is required in order for graduates to become a CPA. For comparison, the pass rates in the state of Kentucky, AACSB schools, and nationally are shown.
