Dr. Carole Pfeffer, VP for Academic Affairs

Dr. Carole Pfeffer serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Pfeffer works closely with the Provost to advance the general academic agenda, with particular emphasis on strategic planning, SACS compliance issues, and the development and implementation of institutional assessment. Along with Dr. Graham Ellis and Dr. Cindy Gnadinger, she also administers the Academic Operations and General Education and Assessment units of Bellarmine University.

Prior to her appointment as Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Pfeffer served as Assistant Vice President with a particular emphasis on assessment. As a Bellarmine faculty member, Dr. Pfeffer served as Chair of the English Department, directed the IDC and Browns Scholars programs, and served as Faculty Council President and as a faculty representative on the Board of Trustees. Dr. Pfeffer earned her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Louisville. She holds an M.A. in Literature from the University of Louisville and a B.A. in English from Bellarmine University.

She is a former high school English teacher and assistant principal, and was a member of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). She has served as an editorial reviewer for publications such as the St. Martin’s Guide to Writing, The Contemporary Reader, The American Tradition in Literature, and The Harbrace Guide to Writing.
