Inspired by the notion of a “full
time laundress” (as recounted in the Courier Journal’s article
about the home’s first occupants), Blue Skies designers
whimsically reveal a portrait from Dutch master Johannes Vermeer
behind a crumbling stucco wall. The room’s built-in linen press
and cupboards are gracefully aged and overflow with gorgeous
vintage linens.
A trompe l’oeil puddle spills from an overturned bucket across a
painted flagstone/brick floor cloth.
On the windows simple hand painted cotton panels mimic the
oak-leaf motif found in the stained glass throughout the house.
