Now is the time to remind students that there are many faith-based groups on campus willing to help them to stay connected, to make friends with similar values, and to find ways of studying and worshiping God in a familiar context. Campus faith-based groups include the Catholic Students Association, Hillel Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, BU Wesley, Muslim Students at Prayer, and the Campus Ministry Council. Mass is offered at St. Agnes (our parish church) at 7 am and 10 am each weekday; at 4:30 on Wednesdays and at 6 on Sundays in Our Lady of the Woods Chapel.
It’s not too early to be thinking about spring break. Participating groups will travel to Appalachia and southwest Louisiana again this year. Students should contact the Office of Campus Ministry for further information.
Finally, students should remember that the Office of Campus Ministry is available for spiritual direction, either directly through the lay ministers and volunteers, or referrals to priests, ministers, and rabbis in the community. Currently, we have regular volunteers and seminarians from the Catholic, Jewish, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Episcopal traditions. In addition, Campus Ministry has connections to all faith traditions in the Highlands. College is filled with uncomfortable situations, unexpected adjustment issues, and spiritual intersections. The Office of Campus Ministry here to help. Call (502) 452-8051 to schedule an appointment or email the director at mpsullivan@bellarmine.edu.
