Pioneer Scholars Invitation and Contract
Congratulations on your acceptance to the Bellarmine University! You are about to embark on a journey filled with challenges, rewards, and experiences you will carry with you for the rest of your life.
You have been invited to take part in the honor of being a Pioneer Scholar at Bellarmine. This is a full year program for first year students who will be the first in their family who plan on graduating from a four-year college. As a Pioneer Scholar you will take part in the most intentional way of making the transition to college from high school and gain privileged early access to many great benefits.
You will meet other freshman and have an upper-class student mentor who takes a special interest in introducing you to Bellarmine, and who, like Peer Mentor Joey Blue understands some of your unique challenges: “As a first generation student, I fully understand the importance of the Pioneer Scholar Program. Having peer mentors available to talk to about difficulties as well as triumphs, inside and outside of the classroom is significant. I really wish that this program would have been around when I was a freshman!”
The benefits of the Pioneer Program include:
- A step-by-step path to success at the university level, focusing on academic and out-of-class aspects of that success
- Formal recognition as a “Pioneer Scholar” which can be listed on a resume
- Access and free tickets to popular Bellarmine events, including: Halloween Ball on the Belle (Riverboat cruise party) November Student Dance Hillside concert- previous performers include Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles, Gloriana; Free food at several Tuesday events; and Free BU gear
