BU Runners Receive Academic All-America Accolades February 13, 2008, LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of America (USTFCCA) named three Bellarmine runners to its 2007 All-Academic teams this week. In addition, the women's cross country team at Bellarmine received an All-Academic Team award from the same publication.

Senior Katie Hickey (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Sarah Bell (Louisville/Presentation) were recognized on the women's side. Hickey earned a 3.67 GPA for the fall semester and has a cumulative mark of 3.78. Bell turned in a 4.0 effort for the fall, raising her cumulative GPA to 3.81.

As a group, the women's cross country team earned a cumulative GPA of 3.36, which qualifies as an All-Academic Team performance. Bellarmine was one of five Great Lakes Valley Conference Schools to receive the team award on the women's side.

For the men, sophomore Ben Draper (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) posted a 3.67 GPA in the fall, contributing to a stellar cumulative average of 3.78. Draper was one of nine GLVC runners being honored.

All-Academic Honors are awarded to student-athletes who have competed 24 semester hours and have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.25. In addition, the student-athlete must also have finished in the top 30 percent of individual participants at their respective regional cross country championships.
