DuPlessis sets record in leading Knights to win
DANVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 11, 2008)--Bellarmine junior Sarah DuPlessis (Elizabethtown, KY/Elizabethtown H.S.) fired a school record 69 (-4) to lead the Knights to a one stroke victory over host Centre College at the Jim English Invitational held at Danville Country Club.
DuPlessis's round of 69 marked the first time a Bellarmine woman has broken 70 in a competitive round. Coach Art Henry described her play as an incredible ball-striking day, noting that she hit all 18 greens in regulation in spite taking a penalty stroke on the par 5 10th hole.
As a team, the Knights posted a 324, which also featured top 10 finishes for sophomore Jessica Storch (Louisville, KY/Sacred Heart), who tied for sixth with her round of 83, and senior Staci Crocker (Midland, MI/ Midland H.S.) who posted an 84, which tied for eighth.
Other Bellarmine scores included an 88 by freshman Jennifer Rechtin (Crestview Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Acad.) and an 89 by sophomore Chelsey Minch (Louisville, KY/Assumption H.S.)
The Knights next competition on the links is the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles Invitational at Cambridge G.C. in Evansville, Ind., on Sept. 21 and 22.
