Knights volleyball team goes 0-2 on Indiana trip
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 26, 2008)--The Bellarmine Knights lost matches to the University of Indianapolis and St. Joseph's College on their road trip Friday and Saturday. They were forced to play without the services of starting senior middle blocker Katie Willinger, who suffered a sprained ankle in practice on Thursday. Her condition is listed as day-to-day.
On Friday, the Knights dropped an 0-3 (13-15, 15-25, 21-25) decision at the University of Indianapolis. Senior Katie Wetterer led the Bellarmine attack with eight kills, and sophomore Kaitlan Harris had 12 digs to lead the Knights defensively.
On Saturday, Bellarmine traveled to Rensselaer, Ind., to take on St. Joseph's. Bellarmine took the first set from the Pumas (25-23), but loss the next three (21-25, 23-25, 19-25). Junior Emily Beckman recorded nine kills for the Knights. Defensively, Bellarmine was led by freshman libero Austin Ziegler's 17 digs and junior Kelly Krucki's six blocks.
The Knights remain in fourth place in the GLVC's East Division with a record of 6-8.
Bellarmine's next match is scheduled at home against Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday, Nov. 2. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
