Bellarmine falls 3-2 to Northern Kentucky LOUISVILLE, Ky (Nov. 2, 2008) -- The Bellarmine Knights fell 3-2 to the Northern Kentucky Norse in the opening round of the GLVC tournament. Scoring quickly, NKU forced the Knights to play from behind the entire match.

The 2nd seeded Norse opened the scoring early with a goal at the 3:30 mark by Lauren Franzen. Brandi Doss added to the lead with a goal late in the first half to bring the half to a close with the Norse leading 2-0.

Franzen opened the second half with a quick goal, staking NKU to a commanding 3 goal lead.

Cutting into the lead with 2 goals in the 76th and 78th minutes, the Knights made a late attempt at overtaking the Norse. Bellarmine's Lauren Triplett netted the first goal on the rebound of Stephanie Wilson's blocked shot. Amanda Moore followed quickly on the heels of this goal with a scoring strike off of a pass from Brittany Nakatani.

Following this second tally, the Knights fell short in their bid to tie up the match as the Norse defense held firm for the final minutes of the game.

As the Knights exit the GLVC tournament, they wrap up their 2008 campaign with 11-6-2 record for the year.
