Three Knights earn all-region honors SOMERS, Wis. (Nov. 12, 2008) - The men's 2008 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Midwest Region team has been released, and three Bellarmine Knights were selected. Defender Tyler Schaefering and forward Brad Barraclough were named to the first team, and midfielder Ross Hopkins earned a second-team nod.

A dangerous striker with a knack for scoring, Barraclough led the Great Lakes Valley Conference in goals scored with 11 (during regular season GLVC contests) and scored 18 overall. Carrying the offensive load for the Knights, Barraclough added three game winners to his impressive season.

Also voted to the 1st Team was Tyler Schaefering, a senior defender for the Knights. He led the Knights in minutes played and was important to Bellarmine's defensive success as Schaefering organized the back line and provided solid 1-on-1 defense. He also provided support on the attack and scored two goals, one of which was a game winner.

Hopkins, a talented midfielder for Bellarmine, led the Knights with nine assists and was one of the league leaders in the category.

The all-region team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sports at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

First-team All-Midwest Region selections are eligible to be named to the 2008 Daktronics NCAA Division II men's soccer All-America team, to be announced Dec. 2.
