Coverstone and Whetzal earn academic honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 15, 2009) -- Bellarmine's Andrew Coverstone and Jason Whetzal were recognized for their academic achievements with a spot on the NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-East Region team.
Playing in their final season as members of the mens soccer team, Coverstone and Whetzal were both given Honorable Mention recognition for their work in the classroom.
Majoring in Business Administration, Coverstone has earned a 3.89 GPA in the classroom. This past season he handed out three assists and scored one goal from the midfield position for the Knights.
Whetzal, also majoring in Business Administration, has earned a 3.3 GPA. He played defender for the Knights where he logged 734 minutes in 19 games, second most on the team.
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) hands out these academic awards, sponsored by adidas, at all levels of college and high school play for both men and women.
