Men's tennis to honor three seniors on Saturday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Apr. 16, 2009) -- The Bellarmine men's tennis team will honor its three senior members on Senior Day this Saturday during a home match against Northern Kentucky University.

Nick Janssen-Bernard, Curtis Mitchell and Frank Turman will be recognized by the university and the team for their accomplishments, dedication and leadership during their careers at Bellarmine.

Janssen-Bernard, a native of Montreal, Quebec, transferred to BU from Tusculum University and made an immediate impact on the court and in the classroom. He currently has 59 combined singles and doubles wins with two matches left to play in the regular season.

Nick is a GLVC All-Academic honoree, an ITA Academic member, and a Dean's List and President's Honor Roll member. He is scheduled to graduate in December with a degree in accounting and has won various awards within his major while on campus.

"Nick will be greatly missed and hard to replace," noted Bellarmine head coach Todd Murphy. Mitchell, a native of Medina, OH, is one of the first players that Coach Murphy signed upon taking the head coaching job at Bellarmine. He has been successful in the classroom and on the court, where he has 19 career wins, and his outgoing personality has made him a great team member.

Mitchell is a member of the GLVC All-Academic team and has been on the Dean's List and President's Honor Roll multiple times during his career. Curt is a communications major and will be pursuing a teaching certificate upon graduation.

Turman, who will graduate with a degree in psychology, has been an excellent team player, helping the Knights to develop into a competitive member in the Great Lakes region. He has "been a player who has pushed others to be their best," according to Coach Murphy.

Upon graduation, Frank will return to Cincinnati, OH, where he graduated from Oak Hills High School, and pursue a career in sales.

"These three players have made my job very enjoyable," shared Murphy. "We have created many memories during their four years."

The three Knights will be recognized on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. before the start of the match against the Norse of Northern Kentucky. Everyone is invited to come out and support the men's tennis team as they seek to send off their seniors in style.
