Five Knights named to All-GLVC Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 30, 2009)—Five members of the Bellarmine University softball team earned All Great Lakes Valley Conference honors, the league announced tonight.

Headlining the quintet was junior Emily O'Bryan, who was named as the 2nd Team All-GLVC third baseman. The Newburgh, Ind. (Reitz Memorial H.S.), native led the conference in triples with four, was tied for fourth in home runs with eight and tied for first in the conference in both total bases (with 91) and runs scored (with 39).

Named to the All-GLVC third team were outfielder Katie Wolsiefer, catcher Jordan Basham, pitcher Casey Willard, and first baseman Kim Locke.

Wolsiefer was the team leader and was third in the conference with a .375 batting average and was second in league with 56 total hits. The senior from Louisville (Manual H.S.), also was among the conference leaders in doubles (16) and on-base percentage (.444). Wolsiefer, a leadoff batter, became Bellarmine's all-time leader in runs scored earlier this year, and now has 130.

Basham, a freshman from Fredericksburg, Ind. (Eastern High School), is having a stellar first year, hitting for a .319 average while leading the team in home runs and runs batted in.

Sophomore Casey Willard already is re-writing the Bellarmine record books with her durability and success. The Louisville Assumption graduate broke her own school record with 39 appearances this year while posting a 2.51 earned run average and a record of 16-15.

Locke, a senior, earned her fourth consecutive All-GLVC recognition. The first baseman from Avon, Ind. (Avon H.S.), is hitting .297 and is practically automatic in the field, where she boasts a .992 fielding average. Earlier this season Locke became Bellarmine's all-time leader in doubles with 43 for her career.

Bellarmine begins conference tournament play tomorrow as they face Quincy University at 1 p.m. (EDT) in East Peoria, Ill. For more information about the GLVC All-Conference team and Championship Tournament, consult the GLVC website.
