Knights bow out of GLVC tourney with 5-1 loss EAST PEORIA, Ill. (May 2, 2009)--The Bellamine University softball team's season came to an end today when they lost 5-1 to Quincy University in their third game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament.

In a rematch of the opening round game, the Knights, who were the No. 7 seed in the tournament, could not muster much offense against the pitching of Quincy's Megan Corey. The righthander posted a complete game 3-hitter for the second-seeded Hawks.

Bellarmine's lone run came in the bottom of the seventh when senior Kim Locke (pictured) ended her career with a home run. The solo shot was Locke's first of the year.

Bellarmine finishes 24-31 on the season and tied for fifth in the conference, which is an improvement of nine spots over last year.

The Hawks broke open the scoring in the second inning when first-team All-GLVC outfielder connected for a two-run homer. Quincy tacked on another run in the third and took a 5-0 with two more in the sixth.

Quincy (28-24) advances to face Indianapolis later today.
