Thompson, Graven earn All-Region accolades
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 13, 2009)--Bellarmine's Michael Thompson and Braxton Graven earned spots on the the 2009 Daktronics, Inc. Baseball All-Midwest Region Team.

Thompson was tabbed as the the Midwest Pitcher of the Year while Graven was named to the All-Midwest Region 2nd team as an outfielder.

Thompson, a starting pitcher for the Knights, helped lead Bellarmine to a return appearance in the GLVC Baseball Tournament. In 14 appearances on the season, Thompson accumulated an 8-2 overall record and a 2.84 earned run average. He posted 118 strikeouts (3rd most in NCAA Div. II) , three complete games and one shutout in 95 innings of work on the year.

The senior from Newburgh, Ind. (Castle H.S.) guided Bellarmine to a 33-24 record in 2009 and led the GLVC in innings pitched and strikeouts.

Graven, a sophomore from Louisville (Trinity H.S.), led the Knights with a .376 batting average and a .493 on-base percentage, which was second in the GLVC. His 37 walks led the Knights and were third in the league. Graven, who also pitched in the starting rotation, sported a .981 fielding average for the year.
