Brown Scholars Leadership Program

Funded by the James Graham Brown Foundation, the Brown Scholars Leadership Program is a four-year program that nurtures and cultivates the leadership and communication skills of young women and men.

The Brown Scholars Program embraces the vision of James Graham Brown to prepare and educate citizens for the future of the City of Louisville and the State of Kentucky.

Program features:
  1. Experiential Learning, with students actively involved in the Louisville community as well as other off-campus environments.
  2. Collaborative Teaching, with Bellarmine professors from various disciplines working together and with members of the Louisville corporate and civic community to plan, implement, and assess the program. During the sophomore year, students are assigned mentors from the community who work with the students for the duration of the program.
  3. Innovative Approach to General Education Courses required of all Bellarmine students.Each of the 5 program courses have been specifically designed to meet the general education requirements as well as the leadership, community involvement, and communication emphases of the program.

The program allows students to enroll in 15 Hours of General Education Courses Taught in a creative format, the courses blend classroom curriculum (reading, writing, discussion, etc.) with hands-on, off-campus experiences.
