Accounting Department

The accounting profession is experiencing demand for professionals that can meet the challenges of a dynamic and global marketplace. Today's accountants are important members of their organizations, using their business expertise, communication and interpersonal skills, and accounting knowledge to improve organizational decision-making.

The core of the Bellarmine accounting program is a four-year, 126-hour program that provides students with the knowledge necessary for a career in accounting and allows students to obtain entry-level positions in major corporations and governmental entities. However, many of our students choose to graduate with an undergraduate degree in accounting and a MBA, providing them with the required 150 course hours to sit for the CPA exam. Bellarmine offers several 150-hour program alternatives, including a dual major, supplemental minors, or the dual BA/MBA programs. For those with a baccalaureate degree in any field other than accounting, who want to pursue professional careers in accounting, we offer the undergraduate certificate in professional accounting program. The accounting coursework is identical regardless of the specific program of study. Beginning in 2012, Bellarmine began offering a Master of Science in Taxation.

On behalf of the faculty in the Accounting Department at Bellarmine University, I would like to invite you to visit our department and learn about our different programs as you make your career decisions. If you have any questions, please contact Audrey A. Gramling, PhD, CPA, CIA, Chair, Accounting Department at 502.272.7443 or agramling@bellarmine.edu.
