Welcome to the Biology Department website! We have a great group of faculty here, and they come from a very broad range of interests and backgrounds….
One of us has designed experiments for the Space Shuttle, and another works in the area of medical forensics. One of us does research on penguins, and another studies the relationship between breast cancer and smoking. One of us uses robots to study animal behavior, and another is investigating the strange coloration of plants! One is isolating human-like genes from pigs, one studies Kentucky biodiversity, another examines pheromones in insects, and another studies why people develop allergies to ragweed pollen.
We are not each just interested in our own specific research topics, though…we are also passionate about helping students succeed in their chosen careers. We do that by delivering the best educational experience we can to our students (whether it be in the classroom, in the laboratory, or in the field) and by taking a personal interest in their professional development.
