As a Biology Major, there are many opportunities to study abroad. Studying abroad is an excellent way to enhance your Bellarmine education. It has been shown that students who study abroad increase their self-confidence and their understanding of different cultures. It is also a way to broaden your horizons in your field and to take not simply classes that are the equivalent of what is offered Bellarmine, but to take classes that will expand on your Bellarmine experience. Students can study abroad as early as the summer following their freshman year providing that they are in good social standing and that they meet the GPA requirements, (2.75 GPA for academic year and semester programs and 2.5 GPA for summer and winter programs). Students are encouraged to plan their study abroad experience early on during their college career in order to prepare for their time abroad and to have a larger variety of programs to choose from. Students can find out more about Bellarmine’s study abroad options by attending the annual study abroad fair in October, by visiting the International Programs Office (Horrigan Hall 202), or by contacting the
Study Abroad Advisor
(452-8423) or
Director of International Programs
(452-8479)
Summer and winter study abroad options last from 2-8 weeks and take place during the summer and winter breaks. The cost for these programs varies from $2,000- $5,000.
Academic year and semester study abroad options are typically exchange programs and the cost is basically the same as attending Bellarmine and paying tuition, fees, room and board for a semester or academic year.
