I have been an adjunct lecturer at Bellarmine University since the fall semester 1976. Having grown up bilingual, French/Arabic, in Casablanca and, after graduate studies in English, this was not my first adventure with teaching a foreign language. I taught both English and French in Morocco.
Louisville is my home now. I came to the United States with Dennis Karpinsky, my husband. We have two children who, thanks to travel and visits from members of my family know France well.
On several occasions we were hosts to young cousins who come to visit and, with specific orders from their parents, to improve their English. It never failed.
After teaching French to American students for a long time, I still enjoy my work. My students, while trying to master the challenges of structure of a foreign language, appreciate those aspects of a culture that often surprise and sometimes fascinate them
