Melody Carrière

Melody Boyd Carrière has undergraduate degrees in French and Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University and a PhD in Comparative Literature from Louisiana State University. Melody specializes in 20th century French, Caribbean, and Italian-American literature.  She spent two years in Besançon, France where she was first an exchange student before being employed as a Lectrice d’Anglais for the Université de la Franche Comté. Being passionate about languages, she also spent several summers in Italy learning Italian. She has taught French and Italian since 1999 and has traveled extensively throughout Europe. Though always interested in African literature and culture, Melody has developed a recent interest in wildlife conservation. She volunteered for a cheetah foundation in South Africa in the summer of 2008 and hopes to work on similar projects in the future.  At Bellarmine Melody not only teaches French and Italian but also various literature courses through the Interdisciplinary Studies (IDC) program.
