WebCAPE Computer-Adaptive Placement Exam
Bellarmine University offers the WebCAPE Computer-Adaptive Placement exam developed at Brigham Young University in Spanish, French, and German to determine student placement in foreign language courses and/or eligibility for further proficiency testing.

What is the WebCAPE?
The WebCAPE tests are multiple-choice and cover grammar, reading, and vocabulary. These are adaptive tests, meaning that the question difficulty will vary depending on how you respond. Do not get discouraged if you are unfamiliar with some of the material. Make your best guess and go on to the next question. The test will take 20-25 minutes.
You should only take the test once. If you take a test more than once, only your first score will be used to help determine placement.
Remember, this is a placement test. You should do the best you can according to the test guidelines. You may NOT use books, notes or any other materials or resources. If you get help or use restricted materials, you will likely place yourself in a course that is too difficult for you.
Placement exam results are available immediately after the exam is completed. If you place into the 101-102 level and intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bellarmine College, you will need to take three to six hours of foreign language to meet the proficiency requirement. Your advisor will also receive your score and help you with registering for the appropriate course.
If you score above the 102 level and wish to take the STAMP test to demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language, you may take the test on campus on your Orientation day. There will be two STAMP testing time slots offered at each SOAR session: one at 1:30 p.m., and one at 3:30 p.m. Our advising and admissions staff will assist you with scheduling your test on that day.
