Music Department

The Department of Music Program offers an integrated program of both standard and commercial instruction. Diverse course offerings, numerous and enriching music activities and challenging ensembles, individual attention from faculty, and innovative and flexible degree programs make the Bellarmine University Music Program an attractive choice for student musicians.

The music faculty are active in a many areas of the music industry as performers, conductors, clinicians, adjudicators, educators, scholars and composers throughout the region, the United States, Mexico, Europe, Israel and North and South Africa. A number of the music faculty are members of The Louisville Orchestra, The Louisville Ballet and The Louisville Master Chorale. Two Louisville choral ensembles The Louisville Vocal Project and PROTUS are founded and directed by Bellarmine music department faculty members and are made up of faculty, alumni, students and members of the community. A number of faculty members are active in a variety of chamber music ensembles and others own their own music business enterprise, are published composers, recording artists and appear as guest musicians around the region.

The Bachelor of Music degree (BM) is offered in the areas of: Instrumental Performance, Jazz Studies, Music Technology, Piano Pedagogy and Accompanying, Theory and Composition, and Vocal Performance. The Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) is offered in the areas of: Instrumental Performance, Jazz Studies, and Vocal Performance.
