12.13.07 Christina Bouras to sing with the Louisville Orchestra
Voice instructor Christina Bouras will sing Nightlites with the Louisville Orchestra on January 3 and 5. The concert is themed New Year's Around the World. For more information on this and other Nightlites events click here.

11.29.07 Sherman called Louisville Guitar Guru in the Courier Journal.
Two compositions by Richard Burchard were featured in a concert of choral music. Miserere Mei and the World Premier of Angels Cry for Mercy were performed by Voces Novae, Frank A. Heller, III, director in Awakenings: Unfolding in the Present. The concert took place Sunday, November 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 421 South Second Street.

Tara Winemiller '07(Vocal Performance) will enter the MM in Vocal Music Studies Program at the University of Louisville in the fall of '07.
Abby Cocanaugher '07(Violin Performance) will begin graduate study at Florida State University in the fall of '07. She will enter the Visual Disabilities Master's Program with a concentration in Rehabilitation Teaching for the Blind.
Barton Mattingly '07 (Euphonium Performance) is the teaching Middle School Band at Christian Academy of Louisville where he is also the Assistant Director of Marching Band and Symphony Band at the High School.
Shawn Trail '02 (Percussion Performance and Music Technology) is in his last semester of study in the MM in Studio Composition at SUNY College, Purchase, NY.
Graham Prather '02 (Music Technology) will begin graduate work at Minnesota State University-Makato in the Experiential Learning Program.
Rob Collier '02 (Music Technology) completed an MM in Composition at the University of Louisville and will begin his DMA in Composition at the University of Maryland in the fall of '07.
Christopher Camp '02 (Vocal Performance) completed an MM in Vocal Performance from the University of Louisville in the spring of '07.
7. 15. 07 Burchard Named as KMTA 2008 Commissioned Composer
Congratulations to Richard Burchard upon his selection by the Kentucky Music Teachers Association to write a commissioned work for performance at its 2008 conference. Following the premiere performance of the composition, it will be submitted to a distinguished panel of recognized composers who will select the Music Teachers National Association Shepherd Distinguished Composer of the Year from all of the 2008 state commissioned works produced throughout the United States. The winning composition is presented in a concert performance at the MTNA National Conference.
6.2.07 The Annual Bellarmine Guitar Clinic to take place
Bellarmine University and Jazz Guitar Instructor Jeff Sherman have announced the 21st Annual Bellarmine Jazz Guitar Clinic and Concert will be held June 4 and 5. The clinic and concert will feature instruction and performances by Sherman and special guests Jack Wilkins and John Stowell. For more information click here.

6.01.07 Music Students travel to Salzburg Austria for 5 weeks of music study.
There were six Bellarmine students that participated in the KIIS (Kentucky Institute for International Studies) Salzburg, Austria Program. Those students were Cassandra Abram, Anna Ament, Ben Aguilar, Sean Campbell, Rebecca Clark and Sarah Clark.

2.7.07 Composer Richard Burchard to have pieces for string orchestra premiered. On Friday, February 16, The Mercury Ensemble of Denver, CO, Thomas Blomster, conductor, will perform the world premier of Richard Burchard's Lament for Strings in a concert of music to take place at Bear Creek Church, 3101 South Kipling Street in Denver. The ensemble will also perform Burchard's transcription of his 5-part choral setting of O Magnum Mysterium.
1.15.07 Senior Bart Mattingly Receives Top Prize. Senior Music Major Bart Mattingly has been selected as the winner of the Kentucky Music Educator's Association Collegiate Composition Competition. His winning composition is a 5-part Choral Composition on the text O Magnum Mysterium. The prize includes a $250 monetary award, a certificate and an invitation to have his work performed at the 2007 KMEA In-service Conference.
The competition is held every year and is open to all students of music at all Kentucky Colleges and Universities. This is the first year a Bellarmine Music Student submitted a composition. Congratulations to Bart and his fine work!
