The Theatre Program at Bellarmine University is proud to announce the results of its first ever new 10-minute play competition.
‘Anything Galileo’ 10-Minute Play Festival
On behalf of the program and the selecting committee, I would like to thank all playwrights who took time to send their work.
We had an overwhelming response to our first festival; 267 different plays were submitted. The submissions came from our own city here in Louisville, from across the country, and from as far as Italy, Spain, and Germany.
The Theatre Program can only produced SIX plays. We are hoping to produce EIGHT but as of right now, only six of them will be produced.
The eight finalists were divided into two categories: Six plays for productions and two plays as “runner ups.” Also, an “overall winner” was chosen. This play will not only be produced, but also receive a $100 prize.
The “Runner Ups” are:
#8: THUD by Lauren Tunnell (Houston, TX) #7: THE GALILEO DEFENSE by Lex Mitchell and Benjamin Unwin (Louisville, KY)
The Winners are:
#6: GALILEO AND THE VONGOODNESSES by David W. Overbey (Louisville, KY) #5: FALLING BODIES by Thomas J. Misuraca (Tarzana, CA) #4: GALILEO FAIL by Haley Rice (Columbus, GA) #3: CAN’T RECANT THE CANT by Arthur M. Jolly (Marina del Rey, CA) #2: THE GALILEO FACTOR by Eoin Carney (Pittsburgh, PA)
The Overall Winner is:
#1: JUPITER’S MOONS by Brian Walker (Louisville, KY)
At production time, audiences will have the opportunity to choose their favorite play. The play with the most votes from our three night festival will receive $50.
Thank you playwrights!!! Keep on writing!!! And be ready to submit to our NEXT festival!!!
