The Bachelor of Science in Applied Information Technology is designed to fulfill 5 goals. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have:
- Developed the technical knowledge and skills to begin a successful IT career
- Mastered critical thinking and problem solving skills in order to create new application designs, modify existing applications, and solve process and information problems in a business environment
- Gained sensitivity to the challenges and impacts of globalization on local organizations planning and operations
- Acquired oral and written communication skills to describe and articluate their position on a wide range of technically oriented issues affecting their employer
- Refined their skills to perform in team environments, resolve conflicts, provide motivation to others, establish team goals and provide direction
Requirements for a Major in Applied Information Technology, 42 hours
Basic courses: AIT. 101, 102, 112, 201, 211, 212, 301, 302, 311, 402, 412, and 422 plus 6 additional hours of AIT electives.
Required related courses: Accounting 101; Business 103, 203, 301, 305, and 315; Communications 301; Economics 111; Mathematics 120, 125 or 117, and 205 or 314; Physics 110 and 211.
Applied Information Technology majors also graduate with a minor in Business Administration.
Program faculty will strongly encourage students to pursue and internship during one or two semesters and will assist them in finding a suitable one.
