Marty was first referred to the internship through Ann Zeman, in the BU Career Development office, and through his contact with alum Lucinda Glover, a Mercer employee. He applied fo for the internship last winter and interviewed in February. Within a week, he had been offered an internship in the Mercer location here in dowtown Louisvlle.

While working at the prestigious company, Marty primarily did the type of work a Financial Analyst would do: he worked in Microsoft Excel analyzing spreadsheets, crunching numbers, and evaluating data. Though he spent most of his intersnhip in the Health and Benefits department, Marty was also able to get a sense of what other departments were like as well. Marty feels that his stint in the corporate world has been truly beneficial to both his education and his career aspirations: "It was a different environment than I'd ever worked in, "he says. "I had never worked together as a team. I was really impressed with everything they did and how they helped me out."

Marty continues to stay in touch with his contacts at Mercer, and his goal is to return to the company after his graduation from Bellarmine.
