1. Students should prioritize their programs and schools.
2. Students should identify the schools where they will be competitive for admission.
3. Students should request viewbooks and applications.
4. Students should watch for graduate school application deadlines and prepare in advance.
5. Students should develop an understanding of how academic and co-curricular experiences set them apart from other candidates.
6. Students shouldIdentify faculty members to ask for recommendations.
7. Students should research sources of financial aid.
8. Students should utilize services in the Career Development Office and/or Academic Resource Center to prepare your Statement of Purpose.
9. Students should ask faculty members, career counselors and/or graduate admissions advisors to read your essays and provide feedback.
10. Students should ask faculty for letters of recommendation. They should provide faculty with a copy of their transcripts, each program's recommendation form, their statements of purpose and current resumes.
11. Students should arrange for official transcripts to be sent the programs to which they apply. They should request that the Registrar hold transcripts until the fall semester grades are in.
12. Students should be aware that applications for graduate assistantships, fellowships and other sources of financial aid may require a separate application.
13. Students should keep a copies of applications and other admissions materials.
