Grading Rubric for the Final Presentation

In this presentation you are to summarize the major ideas from your final paper. In the short time allotted (15-20 minutes) you will not be able to tell us everything you wrote about, so focus on the highlights.

The presentations will be Tuesday May 2, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The rest of the Mathematics Department will be invited to join us.

 

 In-class presentation

Outstanding  (50 points)

The presentation relates the topic to the audience.
The presentation is well organized.

The presentation has a clear introduction and conclusion.
Concepts are clearly presented and explained.

Diagrams and illustrations are clear and contribute to the presentation..
The mathematics is correct.
The presenter uses appropriate grammar and vocabulary.
The presenter engages with the audience (eye contact, etc.)
The presenter gives clear and complete responses to any questions.
The time requirement is met.

Good  (42 points)

The presentation lacks some organization.

The presentation is missing an introduction or conclusion.
Concepts are presented and explained.

Diagrams and illustrations are generally clear and are related to the presentation.
The mathematics has only minor errors.
The presenter has only minor difficulties with grammar and vocabulary.
The presenter is somewhat engaging.
The presenter gives clear responses to any questions.
The time requirement is met.

Minimal  (30 points)

The presentation is disorganized.
Concepts are presented.

Diagrams and illustrations are not clear or are not related to the presentation.
The mathematics has significant errors.
The presenter has significant difficulties with grammar and vocabulary.
The presenter does not engage the audience.
The presenter responds to any questions.
The talk is too short or too long.

Not acceptable  (0 points)

No presentation is given.
