Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS)
Study abroad is available in four to six week summer programs in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and Ecuador through Bellarmine's membership in the Kentucky Institute for International Studies, a consortium of Kentucky colleges and universities. A student can earn up to six hours of transfer credit in foreign languages, liberal arts, and business, with emphasis on providing opportunities for foreign language and culture study. Program costs range from $2000 in Mexico to around $3000 at the European, and $3800 at the Asian sites. Costs represent air fare, room and board, and up to six hours of transfer credit. Study in England, Scotland, Ireland, Belize, Barbados, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa is available through Bellarmine's membership in the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) during the summer and winter break, with courses representing a variety of academic areas, including business, marketing, management, health care, social sciences, and the liberal arts. For additional study sites check the CCSA booklet available at the International Programs Office. Program costs range from $3000 to $5000, plus 50% of the cost of tuition in summer and winter programs. All credits and grades are transferable to Bellarmine as Bellarmine credits. Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE). Founded in 1947, CIEE is a consortium of 170 colleges and universities including Bellarmine providing summer and semester study, internships, field projects, intensive language study, and a variety of courses in the liberal arts, business and economic development, as well as social and natural sciences at its international study centers, as well as over 600 volunteer opportunities for Service Learning around the globe. Summer study is available in Brazil, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, France, Spain, Thailand, and Tunisia and in academic areas not served by KIIS or CCSA. Semester study and/or academic year study is available mostly in countries throughout the world not served by ISEP. Credit earned abroad is evaluated on an individual basis. The Center for Cross-Cultural Study (CC-CS). Welcome to The Center for Cross-Cultural Study, offering foreign study opportunities in Seville and Alicante, Spain ; Córdoba, Argentina ; and Havana, Cuba. Learn the Spanish language, study Spanish, Argentine and Cuban culture and explore the opportunities for immersion in some of the most incredible cities in the world! Bellarmine University IDC 301 Summer Abroad Programs Fufill the Interdisciplinary Course requirement for the 301 level while abroad. Take class from Bellarmine professors with multiple sites from wich to choose from and a variety of subjects offered from every major. The classes provide short-term study abroad experience in unique settings.

Bellarmine in Europe Program Travel with Bellarmine business faculty to Strasbourg, France ; Kufstein, Austria ; Munich, Germany ; Milan, Florence, Italy ; and earn up to 6 hrs. of Bellarmine business credits towards your Major in Business Administration. The rolling hills of Tuscany are located in Central Italy, a European economy almost entirely driven by small businesses (95%). The program will be based in Florence, which is world renown for its splendid historical treasures and architecture. Excursions are planned for

  • France-company site visits the European Parliament
  • Germany-Munich city tour and BMW plant visit
  • Milan-company site visits and lectures at the Catholic University of Milan
  • Montepulciano - Roberto Bellarmino’s (1542-1621) birthplace

This program is offered to students on a first come, first served basis, while at the same time considering the following selection criteria: GPA, campus involvement, and course selection (6hrs vs. 3 hrs). Tropical Biology Field Study in the Bahamas. Bellarmine offers a two-credit organized field-studies course (Biol. 426), in which students study the diverse habitats (coral reefs, tidal pools, mangrove swamps, turtle grass beds, rocky shores, sandy beaches, inland lakes, and terrestrial zones) on and around the topical island of San Salvador in the Bahamas.  Physical Therapy Experience in Australia. This is an intensive three week experience in Perth, Australia hosted by Curtin University. Junior and senior Exercise Science/Physical Therapy students will spend three weeks learning about the practice of physical therapy in Australia. Students will have the opportunity to experience socialized medicine, rural healthcare in the outback and physical therapy education from an Australian perspective. For more information please email:Dr. David Boyce , PT, ECS, OCS or call 272-8373 or the International Programs Office at 502.272.8479 in Miles 146-149.
