A Guide to the Dewey Decimal System

The W. L. Lyons Brown Library at Bellarmine University uses the Dewey Decimal System to classify the nonfiction books in its collection. Below is a general outline of the system showing the numbers corresponding to general subject areas. In the Bellarmine Library, books in the call # range 000-599 can be found in the stacks on level A. Books in the call # range 600-999 can be found in the stacks on level 2. Fiction books are arranged alphabetically by author before the Generalities (000) on level A. Oversize books are located on both level A and level 2
