Faith in the Business of Disappointment: The Spiritual Life of a Woman in the Spotlight, Kristin Chenoweth
Within the realms of America’s Darwinist social media, it is difficult for most celebrities to find the balance between obscene tabloids and the real world. We can witness this through many unfortunate stars that have fallen to the tempting apple of the paparazzi. However, through the wreckage of offensive photos and chaotic divorces, there is some hope. That hope is singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer Kristin Chenoweth.
Upon mentioning Ms. Chenoweth, many people vaguely recognize the name or remember once given some guidance. Kristin originally began in opera at Oklahoma City University. She then moved to Broadway and television, rightfully winning an Emmy and a Tony Award. She’s had countless small parts in movies and has released four solo albums. She is easy to identify, being 4’11” with bright blonde hair and a high-pitched voice. But her career is only the surface.
Even with all of these key indicators, some people still cannot tell you who Kristin Chenoweth is. The only news she makes are preconceived interviews and articles. Kristin removes herself from the social media and focuses inwardly on her personal growth, which is one of the many factors that make her inspiring. Not only is she remarkably talented, she is a genuinely good person who puts her Christian faith before her stardom. Being a Christian, I definitely look up to this woman of such strong spirituality. The strength and power behind her faith in Christianity, even when the spotlight is turned directly on her, is something I am always trying to achieve. It is comforting to know that there is a star that is not drinking or partying every night who proudly adheres to her faith. She holds firm to her beliefs in a business that is constantly striving to deface anyone’s reputation.
It takes an abundance of courage to be so steadfast in one’s faith. Kristin does not impose her views on others, though, which displays her mature sense of the society we live in. However, Ms. Chenoweth does not hold back when questioned. She confidently states her beliefs with no apologies. Kristin lives her life to the fullest, knowing she has God right beside her with love overflowing to her family, friends, and fans. She is accepting, tolerant and proudly advocates for Equality and animal rights. Everything she deems important in her life is, in fact, the most important in any life.
Kristin Chenoweth has brought me closer to my faith. Watching her sing and speak about Christianity has made me realize God is vital to my existence. All of the microscopic problems I thought I had became insignificant and I focused myself spiritually. Everything she stands for, has faith in, supports, and aspires to do, I identify with. She has changed the way I see the world. I appreciated the beauty in life around me and know that each trial in my life is a lesson to be learned. Her versatility and ability to expand herself proves that no matter what you chose, always try to gain more knowledge and widen your frame of mind. Her passion for Christ not only affects her immediate relationships, but overflows to her fans and faithful followers. To be able to touch a life so significantly is something very rare and definitely inspiring.
