3rd Annual Dialogue on Diversity Conference, Oct. 25

On Friday, October 25, the third annual Dialogue on Diversity Conference takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport Expo Center hotel.

The purpose of the conference is to construct a space where participants can engage in thoughtful and instructive conversations about the relevance and role of diversity in the fields of business, education, media, health, politics and religion.

Conference workshops will focus on three primary issues:
  • an overview of diversity in education, media, business, health, religion and politics
  • best practices/current research in diversity
  • diversity based techniques that can be utilized in the workplace
On Thursday, October 24, Dr. Kathy Obear and Tim Wise will speak at Bellarmine. Obear will meet with staff and faculty in a closed session. Wise will speak in Frazier, 11-12. The lecture is open to the public.

In addition, a community conversation with Obear and Wise is scheduled for Thursday, October 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Spalding University. Questions about this event should be directed to Ron M. Jackson at Spalding via email.

The registration price for the conference is $75 [register online]. Group rates are available. Registration includes a continental breakfast, two educational sessions and a luncheon with a panel discussion with Wise, Marta Miranda, executive director of the Center for Women and Families, Louisville Metro Councilwoman Attica Scott and Dr. Michael Washington of Northern Kentucky University.
