Bellarmine Celebrates NCAA Appearance with Special Events

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 9, 2009)--Bellarmine University is planning several special events to celebrate the men's basketball team's first appearance in the NCAA Championship since 1991.

Last night the NCAA announced tournament pairings, and the 24-6 Knights were awarded the No. 2 seed in the Midwest. They will play Kentucky Wesleyan, the No. 7 seed, on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Findlay, Ohio.

To celebrate the team's success, a pep rally will be held in Knights Hall on Wednesday, March 11 at 8:45 p.m. All fans are invited to this free event, which will feature performances by the cheerleaders and pep band as well speeches from players, coaches and university administrators.

On Thursday, March 12, a player send-off will be held in the Knights Hall lobby from 5 to 6 p.m. Pizza and drinks will be available Saturday morning, Knights fans planning on driving up to Findlay for the game are encouraged to decorate their cars and meet at Knights Hall at 8 a.m. to form a "Bellarmine Knights Caravan" to the NCAA tournament.

Ticket Information Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 419-434-4663. Patrons are limited to buying tickets one session at a time, which means that tickets for Sunday's games will not be sold until after the games on Saturday. Ticket prices are $10 for reserved and $8 for general admission.

Coach Scott Davenport has opened practices this week for all fans and media outlets. Practice times for this week: Tuesday: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday: 3:30 p.m. Thursday: 4 p.m.
