Faculty Volunteer at The Savannah Cheetah Foundation
During the summer, Foreign Language Depatment Faculty members Julien Carriere and
Melody Carriere volunteered at The Savannah Cheetah Foundation. The foundation is a cheetah breeding and reintroduction facility located near Parys in South Africa situated on a 1,000 hectare nature reserve. The facilty also is home to other animals such as giraffe, rhino, and antelope.
Julien and Melody spent a month there (between July - August) and their duties included feeding the cheetahs, cleaning their enclosures, exercising them, and maintaining the reserve. The breeding project has been in place for several years but the reintroduction phase is in its infancy. Take a peek at some of their adventures above.
