On Oct. 12, the Bellarmine University Alumni Association will honor eight individuals who have distinguished themselves through professional accomplishments, community service and demonstration of attitudes consistent with Bellarmine’s Catholic identity and the inclusive Thomas Merton spirit. Charles Thompson ’83, bishop of the Catholic diocese of Evansville, Ind., since 2011, with previous service at St. Joseph and Bethlehem High School in Bardstown; St. Francis of Assisi, Presentation Academy, Holy Trinity and Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville; and St. Augustine in Lebanon, Ky.
