What’s on ...your bookshelf? Most of the material I read on a regular basis focuses on economics. When I am not reading economics I am usually reading books on spirituality, psychology or books written by a very close friend of mine. Currently, I have Thomas Merton’s Essential Writings and Elaine Klonicki’s All on Account of You on my bedside table. I’m also working on one of my daughter’s recommendations, Ken Wilber’s Integral Psychology, which I started reading earlier in the summer. ...your iPod I was once told that after you turn 30, your musical tastes rarely change. I do not believe that is true of everyone; certainly not me. I love music and enjoy a variety of genres and songs that span different decades. On my iPod you will find rock, Celtic, alternative, soul, jazz, blues, classical, country, new age, pop, ska and a little opera, in addition to an entire section dedicated to Christmas music. I enjoy exploring what my students are listening to and also listen to Jengo and Pandora on my computer. ...your mind It’s a little like my iPod. I find many ideas, people and places interesting and can easily delve into research on a variety of things when I have an opportunity. Currently, my thoughts are focused on material for a new course that I will teach in the spring, an empirical paper I am working on and a trip to Germany scheduled for next summer. ...your DVR I rarely take time to watch TV, and when I do it is usually when I want to unwind. At the moment my DVR has past episodes of How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. ...your to-do list: Make a to-do list. Photo by Geoff Oliver Bugbee
