Prayers for Virginia Tech
Our Lady of the Woods Chapel on April 17, 2007
We ask you to open your hearts to the loving presence of God as we gather this evening to remember the victims of the shootings at Virginia Tech on Monday. Our response is, Loving God, hear our prayer.
We remember the students who were killed, their parents, siblings, and friends.
Loving God, hear our prayer.
We remember the faculty, their families, colleagues, and friends.
Loving God, hear our prayer.
We remember the family of the young man whose mental anguish has caused such pain and grief. We remember his tormented soul. Loving God, hear our prayer.
We are grateful for those from the medical and law enforcement professions who cared for the wounded, the dying, and their families.
Loving God, hear our prayer.
We ask God’s healing presence on the campus,
God’s wisdom to be with the administrators,
God’s patience with the news media and those hungry for revenge,
God’s love to be felt by the lonely, the sad,
and all those with feelings of isolation, hopelessness, and anger.
God’s grace to be with all who are ministering to the Virginia Tech community.
Loving God, hear our prayer.
To join us at 9:00 for the Rosary, the leader will begin the Lord’s Prayer and you will finish it together:
Leader: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name
thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
ALL: Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the Hail Mary, the leader will begin and you will finish.
Leader: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou
among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
ALL: Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and
at the hour of our death. Amen.
You may bring notes, and prayers to the BU Campus Ministry Office by NOON on Friday to be mailed to the VTI Ecumenical and Catholic Campus Ministries.
