Smithsonian Internship Opportunities - An internship at the Smithsonian Institution is a prearranged, structured learning experience scheduled within a specific time frame. The experience must be relevant to the intern's academic and professional goals, and to research and museum activities of the Institution. The Upward Bound Summer Program - employs college students as Tutor Counselors to supervise, advise and tutor approximately 75 high school students.   The program is a six-week residential component designed to simulate the college experience.  During this component, the students live on campus in dorms.  They take classes to improve their skills in science, math and language arts.  Social and cultural events round out the total summer experience.  Compensation:  $2500 for the summer, free room and board, cool trip to Charleston!  Application and two letters of recommendation must be received by March 3, 2006If interested, please call 606-546-1256 or email langel@unionky.edu to request an application packet.

Governor's Scholars Program - Recruitment of Resident Advisors - seeking bright, energetic college students who are interested in serving as Resident Advisors in the Governor’s Scholars Program during the summer of 2006.  Particular interest is for college or university students who, at the time of application, have completed at least 1 year of college, and have served as resident advisors in a dormitory or have similar experience.  RA’s are hired for a total of 6 weeks: one planning week followed by the five week program.  Resident Advisors will receive a stipend of $2,500 for the six weeks, plus free room and board.  Please visit www.kygsp.org for applications and instructions.  Review of completed applications will begin January 12, 2006.

Henry Clay Internship in Public Policy - This competitive program provides a six to eight-week summer internship in Washington, D.C., for a highly qualified rising junior or senior from a Kentucky college or university. The internship will be served in the office of a member of the Kentucky congressional delegation or an office of the executive branch. The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars - When students are accepted by The Washington Center, they are assigned, according to their interests, to one of eleven thematically organized programs or to our Postgraduate Professional Development Program, specially designed for recent graduates or graduate students. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is sponsoring the NASA Undergraduate Student Research Program (NASA-USRP), offering undergraduates across the United States mentored research experiences at the NASA Centers. The NASA-USRP seeks applications from undergraduates enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. college or university.
