Description:
We are hiring Revenue Officers for our Florence, Paducah, and Louisville, KY offices as well as for many other locations throughout the U.S. for a February 1, 2010 Enter-On-Duty date. In order to be considered for the anticipated February 2010 hire, your online application and all supporting documentation must be submitted by September 10, 2009, and all pending educational requirements must be completed by December 21, 2009.
A Revenue Officer is a highly trained professional, who is responsible for ensuring the financial interests of the Federal Government and the taxpaying public are protected, by enforcing the
tax laws. The primary job responsibilities involve collecting delinquent tax debts, obtaining overdue tax returns, and educating taxpayers on their tax responsibilities. This work will include initiating and conducting civil tax investigations to enforce current and future compliance. Revenue Officers are assigned an inventory of cases, which provides the opportunity to work varied situations with
different types of taxpayers. For the Revenue Officer, no two days will be alike.
MAJOR DUTIES: As a Revenue Officer you will:
- Conduct research, interviews and investigations.
- Analyze financial statements, and contact third parties for information.
- Collect delinquent taxpayer accounts and secure delinquent returns.
- Take administrative and judicial actions.
- Have extensive face-to-face personal contacts with taxpayers, attorneys, accountants, and other representatives, and spend a major portion of your time performing fieldwork.
- Conducting preliminary analyses of cases, scheduling appointments, consulting with group managers, preparing administrative reports, and
assembling files for closure.
SALARY: Revenue Officers will start at the GS-07 grade level (38,117.00 - 49,533.00). A successful Revenue Officer has the opportunity to compete up to the GS-13 level (80,402 Step 1- 104,525 Step 10).
