Resume Preparation Assistance

For additional help in preparing and improving your resume, please schedule an appointment with a Career Development staff member. You may also be interested in participating in one of our monthly Resume Reviews or in Resumania, which allow you to consult with an Employment Professional on ways to improve your resume for your chosen career path. Refer to the Events and Activities page for upcoming opportunities.

What to Bring For Your Appointment

  1. If this is your first resume or you are starting over, OptimalResume is a great resource that will help you create a winning resume based on your specific career interests, experience and other preferences. If you prefer not to use this system, please print, complete and bring these Resume Worksheets to your appointment to save time.
  2. If you already have a resume that you are updating, please send a copy to your reviewer before the appointment. If it was created in OptimalResume, you also have the option of submitting it to the online Review Center. In either case, please bring a printed copy with you.

Resume Samples in Microsoft Word

In addition to the numerous samples available in OptimalResume, we have prepared additional samples in Microsoft Word to help you get started quickly. With any of these samples, just make the necessary changes and save it on your own computer.

  • General Resumes: These sample formats are appropriate for most job, internship and volunteer opportunities for college students and recent graduates. To include two addresses (e.g., school and home, or current and permanent), use the Two Address Sample. Otherwise, choose the One Address Sample.
  • Nursing Resumes: These sample resumes are appropriate for entry-level and experienced students in the traditional and accelerated BSN program. Both the Nursing Traditional Sample and the Nursing Accelerated Sample were created using OptimalResume and saved in Microsoft Word format.
