The purpose of UKnight is:
1. To promote awareness to students about diversity and encourage unity among students on campus.
2. To educate the college about programs and concerns relative to the minority students’ needs and development.
3. To provide opportunities for minority students to interact with one another outside the classroom.
4. To aid and encourage minority students in achieving academic excellence.
5. To provide cultural and ethnic programs that will increase awareness of our minority heritage.
6. To encourage the hiring of more minority professors and professional staff at Bellarmine College.
7. To provide advocacy for minority students and organizations.
8. To create a more conducive educational atmosphere for minority students.
9. To provide a wide range of student support services and programs consistent with individual student needs.
10. Provide programs and services designed to create a campus environment that promotes a quality college experience for minority students.
11. Promote the interests of minority students on campus-wide committees.
12. Increase awareness, knowledge, and understanding of international customs, food, music, and language.
13. Collect and distribute information on opportunities of special interest to minorities – scholarships, employment, internships, graduate programs, and campus activities.
14. Assist minority students in resolving problems related to college life.
15. Provide opportunities to educate students, faculty and staff about minority culture and heritage.
