How do I enroll in the program?
Any Bellarmine student, fulltime or part-time, may enroll in the EDGE program. Students may enroll at any time during the year by following the step-by-step directions provided on the EDGE Website under the Getting Started link.
What is required of each EDGE participant?
Maintain the EDGE transcript for each year you are enrolled at Bellarmine University (be sure to upload your transcript into your EDGE Portfolio
You should have four transcript uploaded into your portfolio, one for each year of attendance at Bellarmine
Upload at least two relevant documents each year into your portfolio, in addition to the EDGE transcript (see Getting Started for a list of relevant or appropriate assignments)
Meet with EDGE Advisor before the end of your Junior Year to review your portfolio
Submit completed portfolio and transcript before graduation for recognition of your accomplishments
Is there a time limit in which I can record my experiences on the EDGE transcript or upload documents in my portfolio?
No, there is no time limit in regards to when you must update your EDGE transcripts; however it is suggested that you keep track of your experiences as they occur. There may be assignments within your classes or involvements that require you to upload a reflection within a specific amount of time.
How will I know who my EDGE Advisor is?
The Director of Student Engagement will assign each EDGE participant to an EDGE Advisor. You should receive a notification email from the EDGE Advisor you have been assigned to welcome you to the program and provide you with any help you may need. The Advisor is available to you to ask questions of and help you navigate the EDGE program.
What should I upload into my EDGE Portfolio?
The creation of a portfolio to document academic and co-curricular experiences at Bellarmine should showcase the skills you have developed as well as integral experiences and epiphanies. Therefore, you are encouraged to upload academic documents such as research projects, internship evaluations, stellar writing samples, art slides, relevant assignments, just to name a few examples. In regards to co-curricular documents, you could upload a marketing plan, program planning, reflections from EDGE assignments, and much more! Can I print out my EDGE transcripts or view my portfolio at any time?
Yes. You will be responsible for managing your EDGE transcript as well as your portfolio. Uploading your transcripts to your portfolio will ensure that your information is easily accessible in one location. The EDGE portfolio is accessible 24 hours a day and you may easily print any documents you upload or save in the portfolio.
What does “EDGE Category” mean on my transcript?
The categories listed in the pull down bar on the transcript include personal development and leadership, multicultural awareness, career and professional development, and community service. These four categories represent the areas with which we would like you to reflect upon your development within. Take a moment and reflect on the involvement opportunity you are documenting, which category or categories does it fit best with? How might the skills you develop have different relevance’s depending on the category?
What items should I track on my EDGE Transcripts?
The information you track on your EDGE transcripts should be relevant to the experiences you are having at Bellarmine University. It is a great idea to put down all programs you attend, social and educational in nature. You should also track relevant experiences within the classroom and academic initiatives, such as internships, externships, study abroad, or research projects. It is also encouraged to track community experiences you may be involved with such as service projects, organizations, and relevant events. It may feel like you can keep up with the numerous experiences you have in a four year period, however tracking these moments via the EDGE transcripts will enable you to have an organized and clear view of your involvement.
