Bellarmine’s orientation program is a two-part process. The SOAR program is designed to give you everything you need to start at Bellarmine. You will leave SOAR with a schedule of courses, a university email account, a student ID card, and information about services and opportunities that await you.
The second part of orientation is Crossroads, designed to smooth the transition into college by providing you an opportunity to interact with students, faculty and administrators who will teach you how to succeed in your new college environment. The freshman class will be taken off-site, to Cedarmore Conference Center in Bagdad, Kentucky, where you will be able to retreat from the worries of jobs, buying books and supplies, wondering what college is like, and all the other stresses of transition to college life. Transportation will be provided from campus.
At the camp, upperclassmen Orientation Crew members will lead small group discussions on topics important to becoming a successful member of the Bellarmine community. There will be speakers, skits, interest sessions, and plenty of time for questions, along with lots of opportunities to get to know your fellow Knights in the Class of 2012.
You have the opportunity to choose from three separate sessions to accommodate your schedule. Preference for session 3 will be given to students from out of state, so that they may come to campus and remain.
All students who are living in one of our residence halls will move in on Thursday, August 21. You are invited to a campus-wide picnic with President McGowan, the Faculty and Staff after move in, and evening entertainment will be provided.
Session 1: August 15-17
Session 2: August 17-19
Session 3: August 19-21 (Residence Halls are open for Freshman move-in on this day)
