Do you have a lot of questions before attending SOAR? You are not alone! Below are a list of the most frequently asked questions.

Q: Are SOAR and Orientation really mandatory?
YES! You must attend SOAR to receive academic advising and finalize registration for your classes. During Orientation, you will begin to meet your classmates and learn about what is expected of you as a Bellarmine student…not to mention you will have some fun! Your school year starts on the first day of Orientation NOT the first day of classes! You are expected to adjust work and vacation schedules accordingly. In addition, parents and family members are invited to attend the Convocation and Matriculation Ceremony…a Bellarmine Tradition! You will receive more information during SOAR.

Q: How long is the SOAR program?
Plan to check-in between 8:00-8:30 a.m. and be on campus until approximately 5:00 p.m.

Q: Are parents required to attend?
No. However, we highly encourage parent participation. The SOAR program includes sessions specifically for parents to attend. During these sessions, parents will have an opportunity to ask questions as well as learn more about their student’s experience at Bellarmine. In addition, parents and family members are invited to attend the Convocation and Matriculation Ceremony…a Bellarmine Tradition! This ceremony takes place on Friday, August 22, 2008.  You will receive more information during SOAR.

Q: Who should I contact to inquire about accommodations for a disability for a family member or myself while attending SOAR and Orientation?
If you or your parent/guardian have a need for disability-related services during SOAR and Orientation, contact the Disability Services Coordinator, Ronda Purdy, at (502) 452-8480 or rpurdy@bellarmine.edu. Please provide our office with two weeks prior notice.
