First Year Summer Experience (FYSE)

FYSE Mission

The First Year Summer Experience (FYSE) program is a program coordinated by the Student Activities Center in partnership with several departments within the Division of Student Affairs. The mission of the program is to assist incoming college students at Bellarmine University navigate their transition from high school to college during the summer prior to enrollment. Through individualized experiences, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Establish an early connection with peers, faculty/staff and upper class students in the Bellarmine community to create a sense of belonging.
  • Build confidence and skills needed to succeed in their first year on campus through experiential learning and interactive workshops.
  • Examine challenges they may face during their college career and explore ways to overcome those challenges.

Why FYSE?
Summer transition programs have shown positive impacts on students in their acclimation to a college campus. The goal of the First Year Summer Experience program is to help students build a network of support early on in their college experience to foster community, develop leadership skills and build resiliency by exploring challenges students may face in their first year.
