Internal capsule
- contains fibers that connect the cerebral cortex with
subcortical centers. The internal capsule has an anterior limb,
posterior limb and a genu. The anterior limb contains the anterior
thalamic radiations and frontopontine fibers, and lies between the
caudate nucleus and the putamen. The posterior limb lies between
the thalamus and lenticular nucleus, and contains corticospinal,
conticopontine and thalamocortical fibers. Within the genu (bend),
travel corticobulbar and corticoreticular fibers.
