Medial longitudinal fasciculus
- fibers descending to the spinal cord
from various brainstem nuclei (medial vestibular
nucleus, interstitial nucleus of Cajal, superior
colliculus and pontine reticular formation) form the
medial longitudinal fasciculus. This tract in the
spinal cord is generally only defined in the cervical
regions. This pathway is involved in automatic
postural, visual and head coordinating activities
and proximal trunk movements.
