Bellarmine University Summer Abroad Programs
BU IDC 301 programs fulfill the Interdisciplinary Course requirement for the 301 level while abroad. Take classes from Bellarmine professors at various sites abroad in various disciplines. The classes provide short-term study abroad experience in unique settings.
Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS)
Study abroad is available in four to six week summer programs in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Ecuador and more through Bellarmine's membership in the Kentucky Institute for International Studies, a consortium of Kentucky colleges and universities. A student can earn up to six hours of transfer credit in foreign languages, liberal arts, and business, with emphasis on providing opportunities for foreign language and culture study. Program costs range from $3,500 in Mexico to around $5,000 at the European, and $5,800 at the Asian sites. Costs represent airfare, housing, some meals, some excursions and up to six hours of transfer credit. Applications and brochures are available in September in the International Programs Office. Cooperative Center for Study Abroad
Study in England, Scotland, Ireland, Belize, Hong Kong, Australia, India and Ghana is available through Bellarmine's membership in the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) during the summer and winter break, with courses representing a variety of academic areas, including business, marketing, management, health care, social sciences, and the liberal arts. For additional study sites check the CCSA website or their booklet, which is available at the Office for Study Abroad and International Learning. Program costs range from $4,300 to $6,500 (includes airfare, housing, some meals, and some excursions). All credits and grades are transferable to Bellarmine and will count toward Latin Honors but will not factor into a student's GPA. Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE)
Founded in 1947, CIEE is a consortium of 170 colleges and universities including Bellarmine providing summer and semester study, internships, field projects, intensive language study, and a variety of courses in the liberal arts, business and economic development, as well as social and natural sciences at its international study centers, as well as over 600 volunteer opportunities for Service Learning around the globe. Summer study is available in Brazil, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, France, Spain, Thailand, and in academic areas not served by KIIS or CCSA. Semester study and/or academic year study is available mostly in countries throughout the world not served by ISEP. Credit earned abroad is evaluated on an individual basis. Spanish Studies Abroad
Welcome to Spanish Studies Abroad, offering foreign study opportunities in Seville and Alicante, Spain; Córdoba, Argentina; and Havana, Cuba. Learn the Spanish language, study Spanish, Argentine and Cuban culture and explore the opportunities for immersion in some of the most incredible cities in the world! Tropical Biology Field Study in the Bahamas and Belize
Bellarmine offers a two-credit organized field-studies course (Biol. 228), in which students study the diverse habitats (coral reefs, tidal pools, mangrove swamps, turtle grass beds, rocky shores, sandy beaches, inland lakes, and terrestrial zones). Physical Therapy Experience in Australia
This is an intensive three week experience in Perth, Australia hosted by Curtin University. Junior and senior Exercise Science/Physical Therapy students will spend three weeks learning about the practice of physical therapy in Australia. Students will have the opportunity to experience socialized medicine, rural healthcare in the outback and physical therapy education from an Australian perspective. Dominican Republic Exercise Science / Physical Therapy Program
Exercise Science Internship (EXSC 444) or Physical Therapy Service Experience: This interdisciplinary opportunity allows students to not only collaborate with other health professionals but also independently serve and educate Dominican athletes regarding injury prevention and sports performance, and have a unique hands-on experience in orthopedics and sports medicine. The Montpellier Work Exchange program
If you are interested in spending the summer in France, consider applying to The Montpellier Work Exchange program. You would spend the month of July in Montpellier, France as an intern. The program includes free passes to museums and other local events. There are also scholarships available.
